Abstract
- 1. 1. Eight species of the subgenus Luxilus of Notropis (Cyprinidae) were compared with respect to their lactate dehydrogenase and malate dehydrogenase isozyme patterns. 2. 2. This isozymic analysis permitted the resolution of the three distinct phyletic groups within the subgenus. 3. 3. Extensive polymorphism was observed at the lactate dehydrogenase C locus, the function of which is restricted primarily to the liver.
