Abstract
Aim: to determine the influence of a specific tennis training on the sagittal spinal curvatures and pelvic tilt on the standing position in adolescents tennis players. Methods: a total of 40 male tennis players (14-18 years) participated in the study. The sagittal spinal curvatures and pelvic tilt were assessed in relaxed standing position and standing in self-correction using a Spinal Mouse before and after two hours of specific training. Results: after training, in the relaxed standing position, there was an increase in cases of rectification (5.1%) and hyperkyphosis (10.3%) and a decrease in cases of normality (15.4%) in the thoracic curvature. In the standing in self-correction position, there was a decrease in the cases of rectification (10.2%), associated with an increase in normality (5.1%) and thoracic hyperkyphosis (5.1%). Regarding the lumbar curve, there was a decrease in the percentage of cases of normality (7.7%), increasing the cases of lumbar rectification (7.7%) in relaxed standing, with no change in standing self-correction position. Conclusion: tennis training generates slight changes in the sagittal spinal curvatures. Fatigue may cause an increase of thoracic postures and lumbar hypokyphosis in standing, as well as lower postural control due to decreased ability to modulate the sagittal spinal curvatures in the standing posture in self-correction.
