Les infections nosocomiales : un risque collectif en cours de normalisation ?

The nosocomial infections : a collective risk standard in progress If the discovery of antibiotics could have lead to the conclusion that the ancient fear of hospital diseases would vanish, bacterial resistance soon appeared and caught the attention of the professionals. However this health issue stayed inside the closed doors of the hospital world until the Sports’clinic crisis broke out in 1997. With this crisis the nosocomial infections switched from the public health scene to the political one and became a collective risk. The aim of this article is to analyse, not the agenda per se but the path taken by this collective risk, that is the process of mutation of the issue in its globality through the different definitions and attributions given, the latest foreshadowing a journey to the acceptance of this risk.
Si la découverte des antibiotiques a pu laisser croire que la crainte multiséculaire des infections hospitalières allait disparaître, les résistances bactériennes sont apparues très rapidement et ont alerté les professionnels concernés. Cependant, ce problème est resté confiné dans le monde hospitalier jusqu’à l’éclatement de l’affaire de la clinique du Sport en 1997. Avec cette affaire, les infections nosocomiales basculent du registre sanitaire vers celui du politique et deviennent un risque collectif. Cet article a pour objectif d’analyser, non pas la mise sur agenda, mais certaines séquences de la trajectoire de ce problème, c’est-à-dire les différentes transformations et qualifications dont il a été l’objet, la dernière en date préfigurant un retour de l’acceptabilité sociale de ce risque.
Las infecciones nosocomiales : un riesgo colectivo en curso de normalización ? Aunque el descubrimiento de los antibióticos hizo pensar que el temor multisecular de las infecciones hospitalarias había desaparecido, las resistencias bacterianas aparecieron muy rápidamente y alertaron a los profesionales concernidos en la materia. Sin embargo, este problema quedó limitado al mundo hospitalario hasta el estallido del «Caso de la Clínica del Deporte » en 1997. Con este «caso » , las infecciones nosocomiales salieron del registro sanitario hacia el plano de lo político convirtiéndose en un «riesgo colectivo » . En lugar de analizar la puesta en escena de estas enfermedades en la agenda política, este artículo tiene por objetivo analizar algunas secuencias de la trayectoria de este problema, es decir, las diferentes transformaciones y calificaciones de las cuales este ha sido objeto. La última transformación fechada, anuncia un retorno hacia la aceptabilidad social de este riesgo.
