Abstract

Department of Chemistry, Jadavpur University, Kolkata-700 032, India E-mail: sbjuchem@yahoo.com, scbhattacharyya@chemistry.jdvu.ac.in Fax: 91-33-24146584 Government General Degree College, Keshiary-721 135, Paschim Medinipur, West Bengal, India Manuscript received 16 July 2018, accepted 23 August 2018 Effect of folic acid functionalized nanoceria on fibrillation of lysozyme has been studied using spectroscopic and microscopic tools. Both bare and functionalized CeONP are capable to retard fibrillation of lysozyme. Also interaction of lysozyme with nanoceria has been studied employing multiple biophysical techniques. The intrinsic fluorescence of lysozyme is quenched in presence of nanoceria. Adsorption of lysozyme causes significant reduction on fibrillization of lysozyme. Mechanism of quenching has been interpreted.
