Botulismo en una lactante

Botulism in a two month old infant A two monlh old girl presenting with constipation, feeding difficulties, hypotonia, shallow breathing,, facia! diplegia and non reactive pupils is described. The search for an irrectious or metabolic explanation was unsucces'ul. Cerebrospinal fluid examination and computed axia! tomographic scan were normal. Muscle electrc potential records sugested botulism whicn was comfirned by 'dervificatio n of A type botJinic toxin in stool samples. Mechanical ve^tlatory support was necessary for thirty seven days before patient's progressive spontaneous recovery. She was discharged from hospital after 98 days showing only mild muscular hiporcnia.
