Environmental radon monitoring: comparing drawbacks and performances of charcoal canisters, alpha-track and E-PERM detectors

Abstract: Nowadays there are mainly three types of detectors available for measuring radon concentrations: charcoal canisters, alpha-tracks and E-PERMs. We carried out measurements with the three types of detectors and we tested their performances over a wide range of radon concentrations, temperatures and humidities. We compared the results obtained with the different detectors and we critically evaluated the results.
