Abstract

The present study deals with the connection of geomagnetic (Disturbance Storm Time Dst) and light trap catches of some beetle species from Hungary, Tasmania, and Nebraska. Most of the examined species on all three continents were members of the Scarabaeidae family. The light source used was krypton in Hungary, mercury. vapor light in Tasmania and black light in Nebraska. For each species, a relationship was found between the values of geomagnetic Disturbance Storm Time (Dst) and the number of beetles captured. However, the results were not identical. Four types were identified: increasing catching type, decreasing catching type, and increasing then. decreasing catching type, and decreasing then increasing catching type.
