Abstract

Heliotropium scabridum (Kunth) J.I.M.Melo, comb. nov. Basionym: Tournefortia scabrida Kunth, Nov. Gen. Sp. 3: 83. 1818. Type:— COLOMBIA. “Crescit cum praecedente” i.e. “Crescit in ripa obumbrata fluminis Magdalenae, prope Tenerife”, s. dat., A. J. A. Bonpland s.n. (lectotype: P030433, image!, designated here; isolectotype: P030434, image!). Distribution.— Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela. Notes.— In the protologue, Kunth (1818: 83) did not designate any material as a basis for the establishment of Tournefortia scabrida. However, on checking the material housed at P, two specimens of Humboldt s.n. were found, both labeled as type specimens (P030433 and P030434). Nonetheless, the specimen with barcode P030433, obtained in Colombia, and it is the most complete, with handwriting in the label stating that it is the type. For this reason, the material P030433 is designated here as the lectotype for T. scabrida.
Published as part of Melo, José Iranildo Miranda De, 2022, New combinations and names in Heliotropium (Heliotropiaceae) from South America, including a new occurrence for the flora of Ecuador, pp. 92-98 in Phytotaxa 568 (1) on page 96, DOI: 10.11646/phytotaxa.568.1.7, http://zenodo.org/record/7184318
{"references":["Kunth, C.
