Abstract: The reaction of alkyl 5,6-dialkyl-2-amino-3-cyano-4-pyridinecarboxylates with certain O-nucleophiles was investigated, as a result of which 6,7-dialkyl-4-amino-2,3-dihydro-1H-pyrrolo[3,4-c]pyridine-1,3-diones were synthesized.
