Abstract

We use neutral hydrogen (Hi) emission to probe various processes that shape the structure and dynamics of dwarf galaxies. In particular, we use Hi observations of a sample composed primarily of dwarf irregulars in voids to determine the kinematics, which in turn is used to measure the angular momentum and dark matter halo properties of the galaxies and the depen-dence of these parameters on the galaxy environment. We investigate the systematics involved in the derivation of rotation curves and their effect on inferred dark matter density profiles. We study the baryonic/gas specific angular momentum of a diverse sample of galaxies to develop a holistic understanding of the formation and evolution of the gas disks.
