Abstract

This paper focused on the practical design of an isolated transformer for bridge-type PFC converter. The main issue is the high current change rate (di/dt) through the transformer caused by low leakage inductance. Thus, proximity effect loss is considered as the main power dissipation source. This work shows transformer design flow and experimental verification of the proposed configuration. Power dissipation for two types of Litz wire was compared under the same conditions.
