Abstract

Genus Ophidiaster L. Agassiz, 1836 Type species. Ophidiaster ophidianus (Lamarck, 1816) (type by monotypy). Remarks. The genus Ophidiaster is composed of 24 species, and six of them are recorded in the Atlantic Ocean: O. alexandri Verrill, 1915, O. bayeri Clark, 1948, O. bullisi (Downey, 1970), O. guildingi Gray, 1840, O. ophidianus (Lamarck, 1816) and O. reyssi Sibuet, 1977.
