CONNECTING FARMERS WITH WHOLESALERS: A REVIEW OF A WEBSITE FOR IMPROVING AGRICULTURAL PROFITABILITY

The food supply chain connecting farmers and wholesalers is critical for ensuring the delivery of fresh, safe, and high-quality products to consumers. However, this supply chain can be fragmented, opaque, and inefficient, particularly for small-scale farmers and local food systems. In this review paper, we explore the challenges and opportunities for connecting farmers and wholesalers, drawing on a comprehensive analysis of fifty review papers from top journals. We identify key themes and insights related to building relationships and trust, leveraging technology and digital platforms, reducing intermediaries, improving logistics and transportation, and encouraging collaboration and partnerships. Through our analysis, we highlight the need for greater transparency, efficiency, and sustainability in the food supply chain, and suggest potential avenues for future research and innovation. This review paper can serve as a valuable resource for policymakers, researchers, and practitioners interested in improving the food supply chain and strengthening the connections between farmers and wholesalers.
