Abstract

J Hippisley-Cox Prof J Hippisley-Cox, University Park, Nottingham, UK; Julia.hippisley-cox@nottingham.ac.uk Does QRISK score predict risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in a validation sample of general practice patients? How does it compare with Framingham score? ### Design: prospective cohort study. ### Setting: 2 validation cohorts from general practices in the UK that provided routinely collected clinical data to 1 of 2 research databases (QRESEARCH, n = 160; THIN, n = 274). ### Patients: patients who were included in the THIN (n = 1.07 million) or QRESEARCH (n = 0.61 million) databases, were 35–74 years of age (51% women), did not have diabetes or CVD, and were not taking statins at baseline. ### Description of prediction guide: QRISK score included traditional risk factors (age, sex, systolic blood pressure, smoking status, and total/high density lipoprotein serum cholesterol ratio) as well as social deprivation …
