Seismic vulnerability assessment of CFRP strengthened RC structures

Abstract

U radu se istražuje seizmička osjetljivost ab okvira ojačanog s CFRP-om (polimer armiran ugljičnim vlaknima). Proveden je program eksperimentalnih istraživanja kako bi se utvrdilo na koji način ojačanje CFRP-om utječe na čvrstoću betona. Poboljšana svojstva modelirana su za razne čvrstoće betona i u tu je svrhu korišten program temeljen na metodi konačnih elemenata. Na temelju rezultata analize izvedene su krivulje seizmičke osjetljivosti neojačanih i ojačanih okvira. Dobivene krivulje pokazuju da su nakon ojačanja ostvarena znatna poboljšanja neojačanih armiranobetonskih konstrukcija.<br />Seismic vulnerability of a Reinforced Concrete (RC) frame retrofitted with the Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) is analysed in this paper. An experimental programme was conducted to determine the way in which concrete strength is affected by CFRP. The improved properties were modelled for different levels of concrete strength using a finite element based software. Using the results obtained during analysis, seismic vulnerability curves were derived for the unstrengthened and strengthened frames. The curves show significant improvement in the performance of unstrengthened RC structure after retrofitting.
