Abstract: We use quantitative provenance analysis (geochemical analysis; high- resolution bulk-petrography and heavy-mineral analysis, exploratory compositional data analysis and Aitchison distance) on present-day river sediments of the Changjiang (Yangtze) River to quantify the contributions of each tributary to the Changjiang River Delta, and thus to evaluate sediment provenance in the distinct p arts of the drainage basin.
