KUTUPHANE-İ UMUMİ AND DONATION COLLECTİONS: ÇERKESH SHEYHIZADE COLLECTION

Kütüphanelerin oluşumunda uygulanan bir yöntem olarak bağış, kütüphaneyi zenginleştiren ama genel koleksiyonda sorun oluşturma potansiyeli de olan hassas bir mevzudur. Bu çalışmada bağış mefhumu ve kütüphaneye etkilerinden ziyade bağış koleksiyonların kütüphaneye intikal süreçlerine odaklanılmıştır. Bu süreçlerin bilinmesi ve kaydedilmesinin kurum tarihine sunacağı katkı muhakkaktır. Bu bağlamda bağışçı Çerkeşşeyhîzâde ailesi örneğinden hareketle Kütüphane-i Umumi-i Osmanî’deki bir bağış koleksiyonu ele alındı. Söz konusu koleksiyonun bağış teslim evrakından yola çıkılarak hazırlanan bu makalede, Kütüphane-i Umumi-i Osmanî’nin bağışçılarına dair literatürün sessizliğine dikkat çekilmektedir. Kütüphane-i Umumi’deki diğer koleksiyonlar için de ulaşılabilen bağış hikayeleri ile birlikte kütüphane bağışçılarının tespiti, kıymetli sonuçlar verebilir. Kütüphanelerdeki koleksiyonların mahiyetini daha anlaşılır kılabilecek bir imkan olarak bu yaklaşımın kütüphane tarihine sunacağı perspektif aşikardır. Aynı şekilde söz konusu yaklaşımın tüm Osmanlı kütüphanelerine teşmiliyle elde edilecek sonuçlar da ufuk açıcı olacaktır. Bu minvalde babalarının kitaplığını bağışlayan M. Bahaeddin ve M. Server Beyler gibi diğer bağışçıların da haklarının teslim edilmesi adına bu mütevazi çalışmanın bir yol açacağı düşünülmektedir. Ancak bu tür çalışmaların çoğalmasıyla birlikte ilk milli kütüphanemiz addedilen Kütüphane-i Umumi’nin bağışçı profili ortaya çıkarılabilir. Dolayısıyla bağışçılar ve koleksiyon sahiplerinin kimliklerinin belirlenmesi, özellikle bağış hikayelerinin derlenmesi, Kütüphane-i Umumi’nin kurumsal tarihine katkı sunacağı gibi kültür tarihimize de katkı sunacaktır.
Donation as a method used in the formation of libraries is a sensitive issue that enriches the library, but also has the potential to create problems in the general collection. Here, the focus is on the donation collection transfer processes to the library rather than the donation concept and its effects on the library. Because knowing and recording these processes will contribute to the history of the institution. In this context, a collection of donations in the Library-i Umumi, which is considered our first national library, was considered based on the example of the donor Cherkesheyhizade family. One of the things that should be emphasized in this article, which is prepared based on the donation delivery document of the library in question, is the silence of the literature on the donors of the Library-i Umumi. However, along with donation stories that are also available for other collections of the Library-i Umumi, identifying library donors can give valuable results. We hope that this humble work will open a way for the rights of other donors such as M. Bahaeddin and M. Server Bey, who donated their father's library. However, with the proliferation of such studies, the donor profile of the Library-i Umumi can be revealed. Therefore, the compilation of donation stories as much as possible with the identities of donors and collection owners will be a contribution to the corporate history of the Library-i Umumi, as well as a service to our cultural history.
