Abstract: In this contribution we discuss a number of practical implications from recent studies on high- voltage design concepts used in microwave tube technology. We show how the insights gained can be used in the design of, for example, insulators and cables, and how conditioning procedures and operating conditions (operating pressure, insulator charging) should be reflected in the design.
