Abstract
- A super-twisting algorithm is proposed in this paper for wind energy conversion systems. This algorithm is designed to be robust against the dead-time distortion that commonly affects a permanent magnet synchronous generator. The super-twisting algorithm is compared against conventional vector control based on PI controllers to demonstrate its advantages. Simulations carried out in MATLAB and experimental results are presented, where: the generator drive is switched at 30 kHz, the control system is sampled at 60 kHz, and a dead-time equal to 4 μs is used. The generator current distortion is reduced from 9.9 % to 0.74 % in simulation and from 22.79 % to 1.23 % experimentally, showing the proposed super-twisting algorithm excellent performance.
