Abstract

We have previously reported our experience with the long-term management of idiopathic calcium stone disease (ICaSD) and observed that the administration of drugs such as thiazides (HCT) and/or allopurinol (ALP) in addition to careful dietary management failed to give further benefit to the patient. The aim of this paper was to relate the clinical response to the biochemical and physico-chemical changes induced by three therapies in order to try to explain why different kinds of treatment provided similar results.
