Abstract

A novel position sensorless permanent-magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive that uses only a direct current (dc)-link sensor is presented in this paper. This concept is already known, but several new implementation details are shown in this paper. The proposed drive system is simple and can be implemented using low-cost control hardware. The dynamic performance of the proposed drive is evaluated and compared with the performance of position sensorless and full sensored drives.
