Synthesis of a Focused Chemical Library Based on Derivatives of Embelin, a Natural Product with Proapoptotic and Anticancer Properties (Eur. J. Org. Chem. 7/2011)

The cover picture shows the design and synthesis of two successive generations of analogues of embelin, a natural product with proapoptotic and anticancer properties. This research was performed in the Indo-French “Joint Laboratory for Sustainable Chemistry at Interfaces&2dquo; between the University of Rennes I/CNRS and the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology/CSIR, Hyderabad. This cooperation is highlighted by the best-known monuments from both cities (Charminar in Hyderabad and Parliament of Brittany in Rennes). Details of this research are discussed in the article by R.
