Abstract
- A sample consisting of 1040 stars, mainly dwarfs of late spectral types, from the solar neighbourhood is studied. Among various spectroscopic data available for all of them we use the line‐of‐sight velocity and metallicity. A clear correlation between these two quantities is found. Based on it we establish the fractions of galactic subsystems in the sample. It is found: 93% for the thin disc, 6% for the thick disc and 1% for the halo. The halo stars are in the present sample the most easy to be separated, they are the metal‐poorest in the sample. For the thin disc the velocity ellipsoid is determined.
