Abstract
- A case of a one-year-old girl with acatalasemia is presented. Acatalasemia is a rare hereditary disease, and the most characteristic trait is the lack of catalase enzyme in the blood and other tissues. This case was discovered in connection with a facial cut wound because her local doctor used a hydrogen peroxide solution on her wound. He found that it did not effervesce and the color of her blood changed to black. The margin of the wound was necrotic but wound healing was normal. In the future, acatalasemia is likely to be discovered increasingly in plastic surgery.
