Abstract

A subject course complied with a grade of 4.0 (A+) approved Doctorate Ph.D. Curriculum Design Subject Course, DBCE 107 3.0 Credit Units Building Electrical Services and Lighting Design and as part of my journey at the Atlantic International University with Ph.D. in Building and Construction Engineering. The building electrical services and lighting design course simulation project is referring to the “Mess Kitchen Hall with Staff Accommodation” which is located inside the facility of the ABM (Ahmed Bin Mohammed) Military College between Al Wajba and Al Shahaniyah Area, Doha Qatar. The content of the subject course study is to simulate the electrical design services that are sustainable quality affordable and suitable to the requirement of the building facility required in Doha, State of Qatar. Where the incoming electrical supply will be fed from a dedicated substation room located in front of the loading duct of the kitchen mess via an underground electrical duct to the electrical room of the kitchen mess hall. The design of the distribution system is aligned with the requirement of the local authority having jurisdiction, Kahramaa, and with reference to the specific British Standards. The building electrical services and lighting design course simulation is a course study to simulate solely focused on the power distribution of the kitchen mess and accommodation on the upper level of the project mentioned. The electrical system was designed economically for continuous and reliable services, safety to personal and equipment, ease of maintenance and operation, minimum power losses, protection of equipment mechanically, interchangeability of equipment, and addition of the loads. To achieve the above goal and obtain the desired results, the author provides the study based on the different standards and practices related to experience. In this report, the power supply of the project, the criteria and the methods of designs of normal networks, electrical equipment’s and protections of the system have been discussed and investigated. A single line diagram has been presented as the outcome of the design.
