Abstract: Samples of Sr8AlxSi46-x existing in the narrow composition range of 9.54 ≤ x ≤ 10.30 are synthesized by arc-melting of the elements and characterized by powder XRD, electrical transport measurements, and TB-LMTO-ASA electronic structure calculations.
