Abstract

The mechanisms and kinetics of charge trapping and untrapping have been determined by examining the thermoluminescence and photostimulated emission from benzene. The nature of the electron traps is discussed in terms of dose dependence, action spectrum for stimulated emission and effects of sample treatment prior to irradiation. The emission spectrum is formed from three components; fluorescence from benzene monomer and excimer and phosphorescence from benzene excimer. The emission spectrum varies throughout the glow curve and is shown to depend on the untrapping mechanisms involved.
