Abstract

Below are a list of our main hypotheses: 1. We hypothesize that Manichaeism will predict social distance differences between liberals and conservatives, even after controlling for ideology. 2. We hypothesize that Manichaeism will predict social distance differences between ingroups and outgroups, even after controlling for ideological extremity. 3. We hypothesize that Manichaeism will predict outgroup distancing more than ingroup closeness. 4. We hypothesize that Right Wing Authoritarianism and Social Dominance Orientation will predict preference for conservative over liberal closeness, but that this relationship will be explained by ideology. 5.We hypothesize that RWA and SDO will not predict ingroup or outgroup social distance or liberal conservative intergroup social distance differences.
