Abstract

The structural and magnetic properties of Mg x Co 1− x FeCrO 4 ( x =0.0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5 and 0.6) system have been investigated by X-ray diffraction, magnetization, AC susceptibility and Mossbauer spectroscopy techniques. Magnetization measurements exhibit Neel's collinear ferrimagnetic structure for the range studied, which is further supported by variation of Neel temperature with Mg-content. The Neel temperatures calculated theoretically are in agreement with those deduced experimentally from AC susceptibility measurements. Mossbauer results suggest existence of two types of spin–spin relaxation, smaller magnetic clusters relaxing at a faster rate as compared to the larger ones and giving rise to a quadrupole doublet for x
