Abstract

AN irrigation scheduling chart developed by C. M. Woodruff (1973) has been modified to use the Blane ^-Criddle procedure for predicting consumptive use. 1 his procedure eliminates the one crop and one soil type limitations of the Woodruff chart. The new irriga-tion scheduling chart was applied to corn and soybeans in 1978, 1979, and 1980. Crops thus scheduled have yielded as well as or better than from other scheduling procedures tested. The method is flexible, inexpensive, and easy to use. It has, to date, given high yields with reduced irrigation water compared to scheduling based on measured plant water stress.
