Abstract
- I. Svitlichnyi and L. Kostenko are writers, to whom the theme of freedom is the key to their work. The purpose of the study is to analyze the features of the interpretation of the concept of FREEDOM by the two authors who approach its vision from different angles. The work of I. Svitlichny is analyzed first. The artist raises the topic of freedom in a philosophical context, as a reflection, as a consideration. He perceives the world in Soviet reality as a big prison, and freedom as a form of internal independence. For him, freedom is a social phenomenon. At the same time, he contrasts two freedoms: one as an opportunity to remain oneself, to preserve principles and oneself as the final result, to die for one's ideals, and the other as an option to adapt to reality, to survive in it. For L. Kostenko, freedom is also a key characteristic. Freedom is interpreted by her in combination with nature, since only in nature does a person become free, and nature itself can act as a model and a mirror of freedom for a person. However, a person can achieve complete freedom only in the soul, otherwise it is impossible to overcome social conventions. Freedom as a category is partially opposed to fame, which has a dualistic interpretation: as a social convention that limits the artist, and true fame that comes after death and can no longer harm. At the same time, true creativity is freedom restrained by duty.
