Abstract
- Although aspects of the prostitution industry in the state of Victoria in Australia have been legalized, the large growth in both the now legal and the illegal sectors and increase in the traffickingof women to meet the large demand for paid sexual services indicate that the legislation has not met its intended purposes of minimizing the harm in prostitution and stemming criminal involvement in and controlling expansion of the industry.
