Abstract
- A tremendous potential has been shown by wind energy for the power generation in recent decade. The wind turbines with electrical machines placed in the wind farm generates bulk power. The efficient layout of the wind farm plays an important role for extracting maximum energy from these wind farms and this layout decides the location of each turbine in the wind farm. This paper proposes a simple analytical method using design variable as distance between any two turbines for a given wind farm. Unlike non-linear optimization methods like Genetic Algorithm(GA) and Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO) algorithm, the proposed method involves simple calculations subjected to varying distances among wind turbines. Layout of wind farms is analyzed with fixed wind speed-prevailing single wind direction for the proposed method and the results have been compared with the traditional methods, GA and PSO.
