Abstract
- Corn stover bagasse hydrolysate was used as the substrate for fed-batch acetone-butanol-ethanol (ABE) fermentation and in situ product removal by intermittent gas stripping. The mutant strain Clostridium acetobutylicum ABE-P 1201 was inoculated for ABE production. As results, a final cumulative butanol concentration of 18.6 g/L (total ABE: 28.3 g/L) was produced from 97.6 g/L of total fermentable sugars (75.3 g/L of glucose and 22.3 g/L of xylose), with an ABE yield of 83.2 g/kg of CSB. The gas stripping condensate obtained in the integrated process contained 77–136 g/L of butanol and 115–220 g/L of total ABE.
