Meta-analytic evidence of emotion recognition impairment in individuals with ADHD

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is often associated with emotional difficulties. Some studies have shown significantly higher difficulties with emotional processing in individuals with ADHD compared to controls, but evidence is mixed. This study focuses on “emotional recognition”, also referred to as “emotional processing” in the literature. We aim to analyse the performance of people with ADHD compared to healthy controls and to find possible explanations for the heterogeneous results in individual studies.
