Interplay between dia- and paramagnetism in ensembles of mesoscopic peierls rings in a magnetic flux

Abstract
- We show that ensembles of mesoscopic Peierls rings in a magnetic flux possess properties completely different from those of isolated rings. A new, unusual magnetic transition between dia- and paramagnetic states occurring in ensembles of rings is found. It can be experimentally studied by means of a SQUID technique.
