Abstract
- Chaetodon ocellicaudus Cuvier in Cuvier & Valenciennes 1831 —Spot-tail butterflyfish Status at New Ireland. First recorded from New Ireland by Burgess (1978: 679); a specimen photographed at Lissenung Island, Kavieng District, 3 m depth, by Dean Tully on 15 Sept. 2012; a specimen observed at Nemto Island, New Hanover, 1–12 m depth, St. T 24, on 7 Nov. 2006, by Gerald R. Allen. Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Malaysia and Indonesia east to Palau and Solomon Islands, north to Philippines, south to Queensland (Australia). Found in coral-rich areas of reef flats, lagoon and seaward coral reefs, 3–50 m depth.
