Abstract

In this paper, a novel wideband omnidirectional cone-shaped monopole antenna is proposed. The presented antenna is composed of two patches etched on dielectric substrate and a metal ground. Several metal pins are inserted between them to connect the above metal areas, which forms a simplified cone-shaped monopole antenna. By adjusting the diameters of the above two metal patches, the operation frequency and bandwidth can be designed for different requirements. The proposed antenna was simulated by HFSS with its relative bandwidth reach 61.5% for| S11| L (wavelength of lower frequency) and good omnidirectional vertically polarized property make it a good candidate for wireless communications.
