Abstract
- An atomic beam apparatus producing a polarized neutral atomic beam is described. The beam intensity, its diameter and the mean velocity of the atoms are measured. The results of the investigation of the dependence of various parameters are presented. The results are used to optimize all parameters involved. An optimum atomic beam intensity of 1.8 × 10 16 atoms per second is measured within a beam diameter of 10 mm.
