Abstract

I. Introduction The purpose of this paper, which is one of a series on the various problems of the biology and economics of egg production in the domestic fowl, is a presentation of constants showing the relationship between monthly egg production aud annual egg record in the pullet year in the White Wyandotte breed. From the purely biological side the present paper is a contribution of detail to the quantitative measurement of the interrelationship of the variables which must be considered in any comprehensive study of the broad problem of the physiology of egg production. The specific purposes of the determination of the various coefficients have been fully enough stated in preceding papers,* and will not be reiterated here. A comparative discussion of these correlations for the economically more important breeds of fowl is in preparation; the constants here presented will then be discussed in greater detail.
