Abstract

In the pig, preovulatory follicle maturation is accompanied by increased immunoreactive plasma inhibin (1), decreased plasma FSH (1, 2), and increased atresia of nonovulatory follicles (2). Preovulatory follicles may be the major source of inhibin because granulosa cells cultured from large follicles, >5 mm in diameter, produced more inhibin than those from small follicles
