Abstract

Positronium yield and emission spectra in C 6 F 6 / c -C 6 H 12 mixtures have been measured. An emission band in the range of 300–450 nm with the maximum at 370 nm and the lifetime of about 3 ns has been observed. This is ascribed to the lowest singlet excited state of C 6 F 6 . The dependencies of Ps yield and emission intensity on C 6 F 6 concentration were very similar to each other. Possible effect of excited states of C 6 F 6 on Ps formation is emphasized.
