Abstract

The regulation of healthcare assistants (HCAs) is a topic which has caused widespread debate since the role has begun to develop. Although the general consensus is that HCAs should be regulated, the problem is deciding who should do the regulating. This article outlines the reasons why regulation is so important and examines the differences between various health care bodies which are preventing a decision from being made.
