Abstract

19 of 52 patients with Wegener's granulomatosis relapsed, totalling 40 episodes. The relapses involved the upper airways in 35 % of the cases and were provoked by reduction of treatment in 52 %. Patients who relapsed were older. In this series azathioprine was the most frequent treatment, the follow-up was longer and the probability of survival was higher. All patients who were treated with corticosteroids and cyclophosphamide for less than 14 months relapsed. These data incite us to suggest some therapeutic modalities.
