BMJ pico--a window into the future?

We have been invited to join the BMJ pico pilot study1 but can’t decide. Some of us are dubious about doing more work on a paper which has already been rewritten four times; others fear that publishing just an abstract in the print journal will diminish our work’s visibility.1 We wondered about the motives behind further reducing the paper research content while retaining the full electronic version of papers.
