Abstract

Corn gluten feed, a coproduct from the wet milling of corn, was incorporated in diets containing 32 and 36% protein. A 103-d feeding study with Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) indicated that 32 and 36% protein diets containing corn gluten feed produced weight gains and feed conversion ratios similar to a control diet of commercial 36% protein catfish feed. Protein efficiency ratios of the 32% protein diets were better than those of the 36% protein diet and the control diet. The differences in weight gain and feed conversion ratio between the 32 and 36% protein diets were not significant. The 32% protein diet with fish meal (6%) had no advantage in weight gain or feed conversion ratio over the 32% protein diet without fish meal.
