Indian youth’s willingness to pay for climate change policies

This chapter employs a single referendum format to evaluate an individual’s willingness to pay for climate change–related research and development fund. Based on primary data, the chapter analyzes the awareness and knowledge on climate issues and the willingness to make contributions. This chapter used a logit model to estimate the parameters and found that gender, income group and the bid amount significantly influenced an individual’s choice to make contributions. It also provides a review of corresponding literature for both developed and developing countries and the methodology behind referendum format followed by empirical analysis.
