Abstract
- s S103 3 (n = 4/48 (8.3%); p = 0.02), and most recent era of transplantation (2006-2014) (n = 92/2544 (3.6%); p < 0.0001). Donor and recipient age, donor echo function and ischemic time were all not predictive of MCS. In a logistic multivariable regression analysis, factors predicting MCS within 30 days were more recent era (O.R. 1.43 (1.31 1.56), p < 0.0001) and CHD (O.R. 2.06 (1.33 3.17), p = 0.001). Conclusion: MCS has historically been uncommon following pediatric heart transplant, although it is becoming more widely used, particularly early posttransplant. Patients with a diagnosis of congenital heart disease were twice as likely to need MCS early post-transplant compared to those with cardiomyopathy. Need for MCS later post-transplant was associated with a greater need for re-transplant.
