Abstract

The City of Phoenix (COP) is removing aggrading sediments and performing surface grading on approximately 0.5 acres of land administered by the Arizona State Land Department (ASLD) in and around a box culvert in Maricopa County, Arizona. Because these activities were believed to hold the potential to adversely affect a previously documented cultural resource site AZ T:8:89 (ASM) (Marshall 1998a), COP requested that EcoPlan Associates, Inc. (EcoPlan) conduct a cultural resources survey of terrain within the project area in advance of their work. The cultural resource survey reported herein was conducted on 8 May 2007 by walking east-west transects spaced not more than 15 m apart. While it is presumed that site AZ T:8:89 (ASM) ― a historic road ― originally traversed the project area, no identifiable portions of the structure could be identified. No other cultural resources were discovered within the surveyed area.
