A Simple Off-Center Elliptical Monopole Antenna with Broadband Circular Polarization

Abstract: In this paper, a simple broadband circular polarization (CP) monopole antenna is developed. Off-center feeding technique has been applied to monopole antenna to excite CP radiation. The CP antenna consists of a tilted elliptical monopole, ground with an arc-shaped edge, and folded feedline. Placing the elliptical monopole off-center is the key factor for producing wide CP and impedance bandwidth. The measured -10 dB impedance bandwidth is 122% (1.14-4.7 GHz) and 3-dB axial ratio (AR) bandwidth reaches 90.4% (1.31-3.47 GHz).
